2026 Toyota Yaris Cross available in two variants, naturally-aspirated petrol and hybrid
The 2026 Toyota Yaris Cross is now in Malaysia. The B-segment crossover is available in two variants, the 1.5S petrol at RM99,900 while the 1.5 S Hybrid (HEV) is RM109,900, the latter having a petrol-powered electric motor. The Yaris Cross is the second HEV launched by UMW Toyota this year, after the Vios HEV.
The Yaris Cross 1.5 S features a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 106PS and 138Nm and is paired with a CVT. The Hybrid has a combined output from the electric motor and Atkinson-cycle engine of 111PS. The electric motor generates 80PS of power and 141Nm of torque while the petrol engine produces 91PS and 121Nm. The fuel consumption from the HEV is estimated at between 27.8 kms/litre and 33.3 kms/litre based on Toyota factory tests. The Yaris Cross HEV is capable of up to 1000km depending on driving style and conditions.
The Yaris Cross HEV is able to travel in full electric mode for short distances and during cruising when strong acceleration is not required. The hybrid battery is a lithium-ion type with 48 cells and a total power output of 763.7 wH. Operating temperature optimised by cooling air drawn from the cabin. Toyota has over two decades of hybrid battery technology experience and the 20.7 kg HEV battery is a beneficiary with proven very good long-term reliability. In addition, it is designed to last as long as the vehicle.
Aside for the difference in engine and transmission, both variants of the Yaris Cross are largely identical with the same safety and convenience features. The difference are the EV button to select all-electric mode and illuminated door plate for the HEV variant.
The length is 4310mm while the width is 1770mm and the height 1655mm. Ground clearance is 210mm with a compact turning circle of 5.2 metres. The cargo area has a maximum length of 955mm with the rear backrests folded. There is a maximum volume of up to 471litres. The two-tone 18-inch alloy rims are fitted with 215/55R18 tyres and a temporary spare tyre 16-inch tyre.
Outside, key design elements are the prominent dual trapezoid front grilles, sharp and distinctive character lines along the side and rear combination lamps that extend to the edges of the body to amplify the width of the body. The headlights and daytime running lights are LED with aluminium vacuum metallising finish. The integrated headlight include turn signal lamps and high/low beam functions within the slim unit. where The tail lamps are combination lamps with the brake lamps, tail lamps, and rear fog lamps integrated in the housing.
Inside, there is a blue-black colour theme with blue accents on the instrument panel and seat stitching. The cabin has full LED interior lighting, including in the luggage compartment and vanity mirrors. In addition, the lighting for the console box and front door trim have four adjustable brightness levels.
The seats are black synthetic leather with blue stitching. There is a breathable mesh on the seat backs for the HEV. The driver’s seat is eight-way power-adjustable. The instrument display is digital a seven-inch TFT meter with digital LED speedometer. In the HEV, instead of a tachometer, there is a energy usage monitor that also indicates driving conditions (economy or power). There is a 10.1-inch infotainment monitor with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Convenience features include wireless charging pad and dual USB-C charging points for rear passengers, kick-opening for the rear hatch and a “close & lock” switch to close and lock the entire car in a single button.
Both variants come with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) advanced driver assistance system. TSS uses a stereoscopic camera instead of monocular camera and radar to scan the road ahead. The active safety features available are

The Yaris Cross comes with a five-year vehicle warranty with no limit on mileage. For the Yaris Cross HEV, the hybrid battery has a separate warranty of up to eight years, also with unlimited mileage. Furthermore, unlike the warranties for hybrid batteries of some other brands, UMWT’s warranty package includes the Inverter and Power Management Control ECU for the same length of time.
Customers may also opt to extend the warranty for the battery pack and related hybrid components for another 2 years, making for a total of 10 years. This longer warranty, is transferable.
