Lotus Emeya from RM555k, also the opening of flagship Lotus Kuala Lumpur showroom
Lotus Emeya Hyper-GT is now in Malaysia at the all-new Lotus Kuala Lumpur flagship store in Glenmarie. A fully-electric, four-door saloon is a first from Lotus. There are three variants, the base Emeya from RM555,000, followed by the Emeya S starting from RM643,000 and the top-of-the-range Emeya R from RM777,000. Also introduced was the all-new Emira Turbo at RM509,000. All prices are without import duties, insurance or road tax. Full technical specs below after images.
The Emeya features full-time all-wheel drive with Lotus ICC intelligent torque distribution and electronically controlled air suspension. The dual motors produce between 603 bhp and 905 bhp with 710 Nm to 985 Nm of torque. It is one of the fastest cars on the road today. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is in 4.2 seconds (under 2.78 seconds for the Emeya R). The top speed is more than 250km/h. The WLTP range is up to 610km – depending on variant. On a 350kW DC charger, a five minute charge yields 150km range and a recharge from 10% to 80% takes 18 minutes.
The “hyperstance” or low centre of gravity of the Emeya, and various advanced active aerodynamic features creates “class-leading” downforce. The Emeya has an active front grille. First seen on the Eletre Hyper SUV, it reduces drag, increases the car’s efficiency when closed. When open, it cools the batteries and the braking system. An active air dam increases downforce at high speeds. With an active motorsports-inspired rear diffuser, the combination smoothen airflow beneath the car for aerodynamic efficiency, are responsible for the Emeya’s grip, handling and stability.
There is also a dual-layer active rear spoiler that provides a net downforce of more than 215kg. Overall, there are eight vents in the Emeya that ensure smooth air flow, optimising aerodynamic efficiency. These improve performance and range while also cooling the brakes, motors and batteries.
The Lotus Emeya has a full suite of ADAS features and real-time road information with navigation. There is also a 55-inch projected augmented reality head-up display.
The interior features sustainably sourced and durable materials. These include a new luxury thread made from repurposed fibres from the fashion industry, PVD aluminium, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU.
The cabin is minimalist and has Road Noise Cancellation to reduce exterior sound intrusion. Vibration sensors installed on the vehicle body detect motion in the tyres and suspension, with algorithms generating anti-phase acoustic signals through the speakers to counteract any interference. The audio system is from Lotus partner KEF. The Emeya has KEF’s award-winning Uni-Q™ speaker design and Uni-Core™ space-saving subwoofer enclosure, plus Dolby Atmos enabled 3D surround sound system.
All-new Lotus Emira Turbo
Also introduced, was the all-new Emira Turbo. The mid-engined premium sports car has a new lightweight bonded aluminium chassis. This technology was pioneered by Lotus and remains an intrinsic part of the company’s sports car DNA. The Emira Turbo has a bold and sculpted design developed from the Evija. Powered by a 360 bhp mid-mounted engine, the Emira is the most powerful four-cylinder Lotus sports car ever. There is an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The Emira Turbo is capable of 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds with a maximum speed of 290km/h. The Emira Turbo is RM509,000 (excluding import duties, insurance and road tax).
Lotus Eletre
In addition, on display was the Eletre – a new base variant below the Eletre S and Eletre R. The all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) starts from RM598,800. The Eletre is powered by a single-speed system capable of delivering 603 bhp and 710 Nm of torque with 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Top speed is 258 km/h and the maximum WLTP driving range is 600 km.
Lotus Kuala Lumpur Flagship Store
The Lotus Kuala Lumpur Flagship Store in Glenmarie has an overall floor space of 1,765 sq ft. Around 987 sq ft is the main showroom. The store represents an important milestone as Lotus extends its sales network in Malaysia and complements the Lotus Store at Pavilion Damansara Heights which opened in February this year.
Lotus Kuala Lumpur has two bespoke customer delivery bays, a lounge for customers, a dedicated merchandising area and a special configurator room for customers to personalise and accessorise every aspect of their Lotus from exterior and interior preferences to the choice of ultra high performance components and additional safety equipment. These include opting for the Lotus Dynamic Handling Pack with 4-wheel steer capabilities, and additional Driving Aid features such as the Parking Pack and Highway Assist Pack.
