BMW launches all-new M135i xDrive in Malaysia -

Two new BMW 1s debut in Malaysia, the all-new BMW M135i xDrive and new BMW X1 sDrive18i

BMW Malaysia unveiled two new models at the same event, the all-new BMW M135i xDrive and new BMW X1 sDrive18i.

All-new BMW M135i xDrive is a four-wheel drive premium hatchback. It has BMW’s most powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine which takes just 4.8 seconds to sprint to 100km/h. Maximum output is 306bhp with peak torque of 450Nm. It has a top speed of 250km/h.

It is 34mm wider and 13mm higher than its predecessor. The latest-style enlarged kidney grille is flanked by adaptive LED headlights. There are front and side air inlets, exterior mirror caps and 100-millimetre Cerium Grey exhaust tailpipes. The light alloy wheels are 19-inch V-spoke Style 557 M Bicolour. At the rear are three-dimensional two-part taillights and a BMW M rear spoiler. The M135i xDrive comes with M Sport suspension and M Sport brakes, with Active Sound Design to amplify the cabin experience.

The electronic four-wheel drive system is front biased. It uses ARB technology, actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation, that’s located in the engine control unit, to monitor changes in traction in the front wheels and reduce engine output if it feels the front wheels slipping.

The ARB works with the newly developed Torsen limited-slip differential integrated into the eight-speed sports gearbox which optimises traction by distributing power to individual wheels. It functions as a front differential, and channels power to the wheel with the most traction in fast corners. The Torsen differential also features a Launch Control mode that puts the full peak torque of 450Nm on tap in the first and second gear.

The interior has ‘Illuminated Boston’ interior trim finishers and Leather Dakota upholstery, M elements on the Sport seats, seat belts, and leather steering wheel. There’s M135i emblazoned on to the front door sill finishers. Electrically-adjustable front seats with driver’s seat memory function, two-zone automatic air conditioning and the BMW Individual Headliner Anthracite also equip the vehicle, while its wireless charging capabilities along with the 16-Speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system offer endless entertainment on every drive. The space-savings from the rear-axle design have resulted in 20 more litres in the boot.

The M135i xDrive has BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System 7.0. The 10.25-inch instrument display is customisable. There is also a 10.25-inch touchscreen control display. Features available are BMW Digital Key, Apple CarPlay, Remote Software Upgrade and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

There is also BMW Personal CoPilot. This has Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant and the Reversing Assistant. The Driving Assistant includes Lane Change Warning, Crossing Traffic Warning at the rear, Rear Collision Warning and Speed Limit Assist. It also includes Lane Departure Warning and Frontal Collision Warning with braking function.

The all-new BMW M135i xDrive is RM 355,646.25, on the road, without insurance. It is available in five colours with two interior leather colour options.
