Largest Porsche Gathering in Malaysia sets record of 320 cars on Sepang International Circuit track
Over 2000 Porsche fans and enthusiasts gathered at Sepang International Circuit for the inaugural Sportscar Together Day Malaysia on Saturday 3 August. The event was initiated last year to celebrate 70 years of Porsche but has now joined the Porsche calendar as an international tradition.
At the event was a display of iconic Porsche models including the 911 GT3 Cup race cars from Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, eight generations of 911, the 919 Hybrid and a Mission E 1:3 scale model.
There were activities for children – young future Porsche owners – at the Porsche Junior Experience Programme. Children who who took part in the Porsche Junior Experience programme went home with a customised replica of Sepang International Circuit.
At Porsche Sportscar Together Day Malaysia a new Malaysian record for the “Largest Porsche Gathering” on the racetrack was set: 320 vehicles. This was celebrated with a victory lap around the circuit.
Sime Darby Auto Performance also introduced an additional variant of the the new Porsche Macan, the Macan S. In the midlife refresh, the SUV arrives with a new more powerful 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine. The output is 349bhp and 480Nm up from the previous 335bhp and 460Nm. This follows the official launch of the new 2.0-litre Porsche Macan earlier this year in May.
