The S-Class saloon is one of four new S-Class models launched in Malaysia. The full S-Class range now available are S450L and Maybach S560 limousines, S63 AMG Coupé and S560 Cabriolet.
The S400h hybrid is now the S450L and in place of the petrol-electric engine, is now powered by a new 3.0-litre six cylinder petrol engine paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Maximum output is 367bhp and 500Nm of torque with a 0-100km/h time of 5.4 seconds.
There are over 6500 new components in the new S-Class bringing with them new features and functions. Most prominent is the new radiator grille: three twin louvres in chrome as well as vertical bars in a high-gloss black finish. Below that is a new front bumper with more pronounced air intakes. Also new are LED head and tail lights and a redesigned rear bumper with integrated visible tailpipe trim, framed by chrome trim which runs across the width of the vehicle.
Inside, both the 12.3-inch high resolution digital displays are new and configurable with three different styles to chose from, Classic, Sporty and Progressive. Voice control is now available for vehicle features like the air conditioning and seat heating/ventilation, interior lighting (ambience lighting, reading lights, lighting in the rear), seat massage function and head-up display. Depending on language version and vehicle equipment, up to 450 individual voice commands are now possible. The operation of Distronic Plus and cruise control from touch-sensitive Touch Control buttons on the steering wheel is another new feature.
Distronic Plus proximity control is a new , air suspension, the widescreen LCD cockpit with Comand online infotainment, Burmester Surround Sound system and multibeam LED headlights with faster and more precise reactions to changing traffic conditions.
