Mazda launches all-new MX-5 RF and CX-9, new Mazda3 GVC and Mazda CX-3 GVC

Bermaz Motors Sdn Bhd recently hosted a major event at which the official distributor of Mazda cars in Malaysia

  • launched all-new the MX-5 RF and the all-new CX-9 SUV
  • unveiled three facelift models, the Mazda 3 saloon/hatchback, Mazda 6 saloon/tourer and Mazda CX-3 SUV
  • introduced their new automotive technology, GVC (Gravity Vectoring Control) and
  • announced the increase in the warranty period to five years, the Mazda Peaceful Ownership Programme
  • announced the new Mazda Mobile Service

Mazda MX-5 RF Roadster
The MX-5 is the world’s best-selling and multiple award-winning roadster. The retractable folding metal roof variant, the MX-5 RF is now available in Malaysia, replacing the rag-top MX-5 which will no longer be offered here.

The RF is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Skyactiv engine that produces 156bhp and 200Nm of torque paired with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.

Standard equipment in the MX-5 RF are a 4.6-inch full-colour TFT gauge and a seven-inch Mazda connect touchscreen infotainment system, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and LED headlights and tail lamps. Also, the nine-speaker Bose audio system with the integrated headrest-mounted speakers which are also in the soft-top.

Four colours are available: Soul Red Metalllic, Crystal White Pearl, Machine Grey and Jet Black.  The MX-5 RF is RM242,718.00 on-the-road with insurance.

Mazda CX-9 SUV
The Malaysian-spec Mazda CX-9 seven-seater crossover will be available from the latter part of 2017 but ahead of that launch, Bermaz is introducing the CX-9 with Australian specifications. Offered in two drivetrains, two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, both are powered by Mazda’s new SKYACTIV-G 2.5T petrol engine which makes its debut in the all-new CX-9.  The transmission is a six-speed automatic gearbox. Maximum power is 228bhp at 5000rpm with maximum torque of 420Nm at 2000rpm.

The CX-9 is available in five colours: Sonic Silver, Deep Crystal Blue, Snowflake White Pearl, Machine Grey and Jet Black at RM 316,788.00 and RM 333,129.00 for the 2WD and 4WD variants respectively. Both prices are on-the-road with insurance.

Mazda3
The Mazda3 saloon and hatchback get a mid-life refresh with exterior, interior and software updates. Outside, there are a bolder grille, LED head and tail lights. Inside a revised instrument panel, new steering wheel design and sleek, restyled gear console now that the handbrake is electronic. GVC is also introduced in the Mazda3, of which, more details below. There are four colour choices: Artic White, Blue Reflex, Meteor Grey and Aluminium Metallic. Price is now from RM113,600.00 on-the-road, with insurance.

Mazda6
The Mazda6 petrol and diesel variants also gets an update with the addition of GVC and minor tweaks to the interior and exterior: larger exterior side turn light, improved steering wheel design, and display of the head-up unit and Multi Info Display (MID).

The Mazda6 Skyactiv-G is available in both saloon and touring body forms while the Mazda6 Skyactiv-D is only available as a saloon. There are seven colours, Soul Red Metallic, Sonic Silver, Deep Crystal Blue, Snowflake White Pearl, Meteor Grey, Machine Grey and Jet Black. The Mazda6 Skyactiv-G starts from RM 170,408.00 while the Mazda6 Skyactiv-D, from RM 215,265.00, both prices on-the-road with insurance.

Gravity-Vectoring Control (GVC)
This Mazda innovation controls engine torque to improve handling and ride quality for the driver and passengers, especially when cornering. Based on the Japanese concept of Jinba-Ittai, the connected between car and driver, engine torque is reduced slightly, based on the steering and acceleration of the driver, to reduce the effects of weight transfer and lateral forces as the car corners. The effect is less body roll and improved handling.

Mazda Peaceful Ownership Programme
The warranty on all new Mazda vehicles registered from 1 February 2017 has been increased from three years to five years/100,000km manufacturing warranty and 3 years/60,000km maintenance with three years free scheduled maintenance according to manufacturer’s standards. The new 5 Years Manufacturing Warranty and 3 Years Maintenance applies to all models except the BT-50 pickup.

Mazda Mobile Service Unit
The Mazda Mobile Service Unit provides owners convenient car servicing and maintenance at their doorstep.

The services offered include scheduled maintenance for vehicles within the 3 years/60,000km time period, inspection and replacement of battery, wiper blades, brake pads, brake fluids and auto-transmission fluid. The Mazda Mobile Service Unit carries an extensive list of equipment, which includes a fully equipped tool set, 2.5 ton aluminium quick-jack capable of lifting a CX-5 and BT-50, the Mazda Mobile Diagnostic System (MMDS) to conduct assessments on various electronic circuits, a generator on-board for electricity consumption and many more.

The availability of the Mazda Mobile Unit are currently limited to the Klang Valley and Penang region.
