The 2026 Proton X90 has launched in Malaysia. Three spec levels are available, Lite, Prime and Prime X. Prices start from RM106,800 for the Lite, the Prime at RM116,800 while the Prime X is RM122,800. Prices are on-the-road without insurance.
Unlike the previous X90 launched in 2023, the 2026 X90 has undergone several cost-cutting measures in order to bring down the price substantially, most notably sacrificing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features in all variants so that the 2026 top-spec Prime X now has almost the same specs as the 2023 Executive while being RM1000 less than the 2023 entry-level Standard.

New for 2026 in the SUV is Proton’s i-GT 1.5-litre four cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which is also in the X50 and X70. The output is 181PS/ 178hp and 290Nm of torque, an increase in torque from 255Nm previously.
The headlights are full LED with LED daytime running lights, front sequential turn signals, LED front and rear foglights, electric door mirrors and Follow Me Home lights. Both Prime and Prime X have auto headlamps and rain sensing windscreen wipers which the base model Lite does not.
Across the three variants, there are three drive modes, Comfort, Eco and Sport and three steering modes, Normal, Comfort and Sport.
The infotainment monitor across the range is 12.3-inch with a 3.5-inch meter combination in the Lite and 10.3-inch meter combination in the Prime and Prime X.
The steering while material is leatherette. Lite and Prime are seven-seaters with leatherette upholstery. The driver’s seat in the Prime is six-way power adjustable. Meanwhile the six-seater Prime X has Nappa leather upholstery with six-way power adjustable driver’s seat and four-way power adjustable front passenger seat and Captain seats in the second row, all of which are ventilated. The front passenger seat in the Prime X has a “Boss” Switch. The luggage space in 275-litres with all the seats up. This expands to 1011-litres when the third row is folded flat and goes up to 2050-litres when the second and third rows are down.
