BYD Seal 6 is now the most affordable C-segment car in Malaysia
BYD Seal 6 is now in Malaysia. The all-electric saloon is the most affordable C-segment in the market at RM100,000 for the entry-level Dynamic spec. Malaysia is the first country outside China to launch the Seal 6, six months after its launch in China.
The seventh model from BYD to launch in Malaysia, the Seal 6 is available in two trim levels, Dynamic and Premium and in three colours: White, Blue and Grey. All three have black and grey interiors as well as identical design rims. The Dynamic will have 17-inch rims while the Premium, 18-inch.
The BYD Blade Battery is 56.64kWh. DC fast charging at 100kW takes 23 minutes to recharge from 30% to 80%. The AC charging is 7kW and takes around 10 hours from zero to 100%. WLTP range is around 420km.
BYD boasts that the Seal 6 has the longest length and wheelbase. It is also the widest and tallest C-segment saloon in Malaysia, making it the largest C-segment saloon with the most spacious cabin in the country. The dimensions are 4720mm long, 1495mm high, 1860mm wide with a 2820mm wheelbase. The Seal 6 also has short overhands which helps its manoeuvrability and agility on the road.
It also comes with several first-in-class as well as class-leading features. These include
- first BYD model with an all-new dual ball-joint MacPherson strut in front and multi-link suspension at the rear for ride comfort
- rear-wheel drive
- largest in class with longest wheelbase in a C-segment car
- sporty handling from more balanced weight distribution
- tight turning circle of 5.5 metres
- large boot and storage capacity: 525L combined cargo capacity, 65L at the front and a 460L boot
- 24 storage compartments
- dynamic power from 160kW power, 330Nm torque, zero to 100km/h time of 7.5s with three drive modes
Instead of the usual 12V lead-acid battery, the Seal 6 has h a 12V Lithium Iron Phosphate or LFP battery, There are several advantages to an LFP battery, such as: better efficiency, longer lifespan and reduced weigh. LFP batteries are also less affected by heat.
All external illuminations are LED. These include the headlights, tail lamps, daytime running lights and front door light. In addition, the Seal 6 has follow-me-home headlights and automatic headlights.
There are eight airbags and also a long list of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System features which include:
- Stop & Go Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC-S&G)
- Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Front Collision Warning (FCW)
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Inside there is an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, 12.8-inch touchscreen monitor and DiLink Infortainment system. In addition, there is Voice Assistance in English, Malay, Mandarin and Cantonese, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For charging, there is a 15W wireless charger as well as several USB-C and USB-A ports in the car. There is also an eight speaker sound system in the Premium, six speakers in the Dynamic.
The synthetic leather ergonomic seats in the Premium are 8-way power adjustable for the driver’s seat and four-way adjustable for the front passenger seat. There is also a panoramic sunroof with electric slide.
