Omoda|Jaecoo official preview of Omoda C9 PHEV and Jaecoo J5

Omoda | Jaecoo has unveiled two new models ahead of their launches later this year, the Omoda C9 and Jaecoo J5. At the Omoda | Jaecoo Carnival at Desa ParkCity until 24 August 2025. Also at the carnival is the SHS Experience Lab, an interactive display for visitors to explore the Super Hybrid System in detail as the hybrid powertrain will feature heavily in Omoda | Jaecoo’s future line-up. The interactive display includes technology demonstrations, interactive displays, and guided presentations that showcase how SHS combines intelligent energy efficiency, high performance, and eco-conscious driving.

Jaecoo J5

The Jaecoo J5 has the same boxy silhouette as the J7 as well as a similar appearance with a few differences, such as the headlight, bumper and wheel designs. The J5 has lift-up door handles unlike the J7 which has flush door handles. The dimensions of the J5 are

There are 18-inch alloy rims with 235/55 R18 tyres.

The front-wheel drive compact B-segment crossover has a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the latest-generation intake integrated intercooling and integrated exhaust manifold (IEM) cylinder head technology. It is paired with a CVT gearbox. The output is 147 PS and 210 Nm of torque. The rated fuel consumption is 7.5-litres/100km Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Cycle (WLTC).

The five-seater has artificial leather upholstery. The boot is 480-litres, expanding to 1180 litres with the 60/40 split-fold seats lowered. Jaecoo claims the interior is pet-friendly with TÜV certification.

The infotainment touchscreen monitor is 13.2-inches with a 2K display. There is WiFi connectivity, an 8.0-inch LCD instrument cluster and an eight-speaker audio system. There is also the largest panoramic moonroof in the B-segment, 1.45m², which extends across the cabin.

Safety features include Level 2.5 ADAS and a 540-degree HD surround view camera system.

Omoda C9 PHEV

Debuting alongside the J5, was the Omoda C9 PHEV, Omoda|Jaecoo’s most powerful model to date, featuring a triple-motor plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The off-road SUV coupé is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with three electric motors delivering a total combined output of 605PS and 915Nm of torque. 0-100km/h takes 4.9 seconds. The 34.46kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery provides up to 150km of pure EV range and a total driving range of 1100km. DC fast charging is at 70kW while AC charging is at 6.6kW and 2.8kW.

The hybrid system has a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). Fuel economy is rated at a combined fuel consumption of 1.7L/100km (WLTC).

The Omoda C9 PHEV features Continuous Damping Control (CDC) active suspension. The system has five sensors which adjust the suspension response up to 100 times per second. There are seven driving modes for both on- and off-road conditions.

Other features include an Auxiliary Lighting System that highlights the exterior curves, as well as heated, ventilated front seats.

In addition to the headline previews, visitors can explore the full Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia line-up, including test drives of the popular J7 and flagship J8. 

There is a wide selection of food and beverage offerings, kids’ play zones, alfresco outdoor spaces, and the PingMing Market – a cultural bazaar known as “the market for the people,” featuring a variety of culinary and artisanal delights.

The Omoda | Jaecoo Carnival is from 21 to 24 August 2025 at Car Park 3, Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur.
