
Proton e.Mas 7 embarks on 9000km ASEAN Unity journey to champion regional mobility
The Proton e.Mas 7 flagged off on Thursday 20 March on the first leg on the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025). The official vehicle for AUD 2025, it will travel 9,000km across nine ASEAN countries. The journey will culminate at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) from 9 to 15 May 2025 at MAEPS, Serdang.
The flag off was from Menara MITI. It was officiated by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Malaysia has the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. AUD 2025 reinforces the country’s role in leading the region’s transition towards green and smart mobility. The Proton e.MAS 7 symbolises Malaysia’s commitment to electric mobility, the national EV agenda and broader sustainability goals.
The convoy of six Proton e.MAS 7 and four X Series vehicles will traverse two routes:
- North Route: Starting in Hanoi, Vietnam, passing through Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, before reaching Malaysia.
- South Route: Beginning in Manila, Philippines, traveling through Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak, Indonesia, Singapore, before arriving in Malaysia.
The journey demonstrates ASEAN’s commitment to cross-border connectivity, eco-friendly transportation, and regional economic collaboration. The convoys will eventually converge at MAS 2025.

MAS 2025 will feature new model launches, cutting-edge EV and ICE technologies over eight halls. There will also be test drive experiences, as well as industry networking opportunities.
This year will also spotlight Women in Automotive, celebrating female pioneers and encouraging greater participation in mobility innovation and leadership. Additionally, the Automotive Career & Education Day will feature a career fair. There will also be the ASEAN Automotive Debate, where top regional university teams will engage in discussions on the industry’s future.
