Mercedes-Benz has launched the all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63. The off-roader has a AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine paired AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, producing 585bhp and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. The G 63 also features 48-volt technology and an integrated starter-generator (ISG) which provides an additional 20bhp of boost and 200 Nm of torque. From a standstill, the AMG G 63 takes 4.4 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h on to a top speed of 220 km/h. The AMG Performance Package enables a top speed of 240 km/h.
The nine speed torque-converter transmission is able to downshift multiple gears in order to utilise the engine’s full power. There is also AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes which offers a choice of different drive programmes with specific drive settings
The G63 has AMG Active Ride Control suspension with active, hydraulic roll stabilisation and adaptive adjustable damping while active hydraulic elements replace the conventional mechanical torsion-bar transverse stabilisers. The adaptive shock absorbers are equipped with two hydraulic connections – one each on the compression and rebound stages of the damper.
Externally, the front end has the AMG-specific radiator shell and large air inlet grilles in the front bumper. The AMG Night Package has sporty, expressive design elements in black or dark chrome, including the radiator grille, exterior mirror housings, and the simulated front underguard. There are also bumper inserts in obsidian black. There is an AMG Specific Exhaust System with two twin tailpipes and the iconic spare wheel on rear-end door.
Red-painted AMG brake callipers, perforated brake discs, and 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels round off the exterior design. Other brand features include the AMG crest on the bonnet and in the exterior mirror projection for the first time as well as the AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with design elements in black.
There is intelligent lighting from the Adaptive Multibeam LED headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. They are able to illuminate the road and react to changes in traffic situation through 84 individually controllable high-performance LEDs. In addition, the LED technology is in the taillights.
The all-new AMG G 63 has Superior Line Interior which transforms the inside of the vehicle into a luxurious lounge. There is a sliding sunroof, instrument panel in nappa leather and elements in diamond design. The active multi-contour seats have the Energising Package Plus with massage function and seat climate control. The cabin also has an AMG carbon-fibre trim and nappa leather upholstery.
The G63 has AMG Performance steering wheel in carbon-fibre design / Microcut microfibre. Towards the bottom are round AMG steering wheel buttons that operate AMG-specific driving functions and all driving programmes. The AMG logo is also on the steering wheel spokes, in the central display, in the door sill panels, and on the floor mats and front seat backrests.
The all-new AMG G 63 has Burmester 3D surround sound system which features Dolby Atmos audio experience. The system transforms the all-new G-Class into a state-of-the-art concert hall on wheels. The MBUX infotainment system has 12.3-inch driver and media displays with touch control. The MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation superimposes graphic navigation and traffic information on live images on the media display.

There are also buttons for quick access to certain vehicle functions that are relevant to off-road driving. The data displayed includes an artificial horizon, positioning, compass, altitude, steering angle of the front axle, torque, power, tyre pressure and temperature as well as the status of the differential locks.
The “transparent bonnet” function is in the off-road menu in the central display. Along with the 360° camera, it gives a virtual view under the front of the vehicle.
