Hyundai Kona SUV available in three variants, all with launch discount of RM8000 off
Hyundai’s first small SUV, the Kona has launched in Malaysia. three variants are available, a basic and a mid-spec powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine and a top-of the-range 1.6-litre turbo. The variants are the Hyundai Kona 2.0, Hyundai Kona 2.0 Active and the Hyundai Kona 1.6 Turbo respectively.

The naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre engine produces 149bhp and 180Nm and has six-speed automatic transmission while the turbocharged 1.6 litre generates 177bhp and 265Nm of torque and has a dual-clutch gearbox. All three are two-wheel, front-wheel drives.
The Hyundai Kona SUV has a bold, large front grille flanked by daytime running lights, LED headlights, and black-clad wheel arches. The brake lights, rear turn indicators and reverse lamps are separated by the cladding which is also the C-pillar garnish. The Active and Turbo variants have 18-inch alloys while the 2.0 basic is fitted with 17-inch alloys.
Hyundai is the only global car manufacturer to produce its own steel for vehicle production. The Kona has a lightweight structure with 52 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel. The advantage of AHSS is its rigidity and ability to disperse crash energy and protect passengers in the central safety cell in the event of an accident. The compact crossover has several awards for safety including a NHTSA 5-star safety rating as well as an IIHS Top Safety Pick overall.
There are advanced safety features in the Kona Active and Kona Turbo. The Active and Turbo come with Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW). RCCW detects when another vehicle is coming up behind a reversing car, like when it’s backing out of a parking spot, and sounds a driver alert
Exclusively in the Turbo are Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), autonomously brakes if it detects an impact is imminent. There is also Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), High Beam Assist (HBA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
The Kona has a black interior, leather in the Active and Turbo, and a standard seven-inch colour LCD display which includes AM/FM/MP3 touchscreen audio, auxiliary input jacks, voice-command recognition and Rear View Monitor. There is also Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Heads-Up Display and wireless charging are available in the Active and Turbo.
Also in the Kona are vibrant colour frames around the aircon vents, gearbox and ignition button. There are also colourful seat belts and contrast stitching on the seats. Lake Silver, Phantom Black, Blue Lagoon and Ceramic Blue exteriors have Grey coloured interior trims and black seat belts. Phantom Black and Pulse Red cars have red seat belts and Red interior trims and Lime seatbelts and Lime interior trims are paired with Chalk White.
The all-new Hyundai Kona SUV starts from 123,888. The Hyundai Kona Active is RM138,888 and the Kona Turbo is RM151,888.
