Almost 12,000 additional Nissan vehicles in Malaysia affected in the latest Takata airbag inflator replacement recall campaign
Three locally-assembled Nissan models, the Navara, Grand Livina and X-Gear, are being recalled for to replace faulty driver and front passenger Takata airbag inflator modules, Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), and Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Centre (TCEAS) have announced.
Approximately 11,971 Nissans, manufactured between January 2015 and November 2015, have been identified. The Nissan NP300 Navara which was launched in Malaysia on November 2015, as well as other current selling Nissan models are not affected by this exercise.

TCEAS will be writing to Nissan customers affected by this latest Takata airbag inflator replacement recall campaign. Customers are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet (see below) for an appointment. To deal with the urgency of the situation, selected TCEAS outlets have extended operation hours and are open 365 days a year, making it easier for customers to service their vehicles on weekends and public holidays.
As at June 2019, TCEAS has completed 99,670 vehicles or 56% of Takata airbag inflator replacements, however, there are still many vehicles affected which have yet to have the inflators replaced. Nissan owners who have yet to do so are advised to get the replacements done as soon as possible to avoid any injury and fatality.
