Only 20 units of the new Mini Convertible available as part of 60th Birthday Celebrations
The new Mini Convertible is here. Limited to just 20 units as part of the brand’s 60th birthday celebrations, the Mini Convertible comes with new high-tech features and digital services including built-in 4G SIM technology for the new generation Mini Connected services.
There’s a newly developed 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo engine and seven-speed Steptronic Sports automatic transmission combination that produces 192bhp and 280Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100km/h takes 7.1 seconds, top speed is 230km/h.
The electronic gear selector lever is newly designed. It returns to its original position after changing between driving mode ‘D’, neutral position ‘N’ and reverse mode ‘R’. The parking lock is activated by pressing the ‘P’ button.
Safety-wise, the Mini Convertible has an active rollover protection system, which ensures driver and passengers are given additional head protection should the vehicle ever overturn. The car also comes with front airbags and pelvis-thorax airbag for the driver and front passenger. Additional safety features include Rear Park Distance Control, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
The electric soft-top convertible which can be operated at speeds of up to 30km/h features the Union Jack from the MINI Yours design portfolio woven into the fabric of the roof. It takes 18 seconds to open in three stages – closed, sunroof – to let the breeze in, and open.
The headlights, Union Jack tail lamps and indicators are LED. The Mini Convertible is shod with 17-inch Rail Spoke design in burnish Jet Black with runflat tyres.
Inside, there’s a new 6.5-inch touchscreen display in the centre for infotainment. The seats, door armrest and knee roll are Leather Chester, a diamond-stitched saddle leather in Malt Brown with nappa leather steering wheel and hand-stitched aluminium-coloured contrast stitching, piano black interior surface and 12 ambient lighting colour options.
Advanced digital services in the new Mini Convertible include the new generation Mini Connected with built-in 4G SIM technology. Mini Connected maximises safety and convenience through its extensive connectivity capabilities and personalised services including Intelligent Emergency Call, TeleServices, Mini Online, wireless Apple CarPlay and Remote Services.
The new Mini Convertible is available in the special exterior colour of Caribbean Aqua which is exclusive to the model. Additional exterior colours are Chili Red, Solaris Orange, Melting Silver and Starlight Blue. The new Mini Convertible will be available in limited units at all authorised Mini dealerships nationwide from 20 July 2019.
To celebrate of Mini’s’s 60th anniversary, owners who purchase the Convertible from now to 31 August 2019 will get 60 Months Mini Service + Repair Inclusive programme: 60 months or 80,000km (whichever comes first) of free scheduled service and 60 months unlimited mileage warranty. For purchases after 31 August 2019, the Convertible will be available with the MINI 4 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service.
The retail price of the new Mini Convertible (on the road for personal registration, without insurance) is RM 279,888.00. With the Balloon Financing from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the new Mini Convertible starts from RM 3,028.00 per month (based on estimates of 80% loan on a five-year tenure).
