Third-generation Porsche Cayenne debuts in Malaysia

All-new Porsche Cayenne available with two engine variants priced from RM745,000

Sime Darby Auto Performance has officially launched the third generation Porsche Cayenne SUV following the media preview in January. The performance SUV is available in two variants, the Cayenne and the Cayenne S, both new engines paired with a new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

The all-new Cayenne arrives with a 55kg decrease in weight from the new all-aluminium exterior, alloy underpinnings and new lithium-ion polymer starter battery, taking the formerly over two tonne vehicles down to just 1985kg. This is despite an longer list of standard equipment – air suspension, Park Assist, Power-steering plus, Porsche Communication Management infotainment system, LED headlights and Porsche Advanced Cockpit – and larger wheels, 19″ rims.

Despite now being powered by lower displacement engines, the output, acceleration times and top speed have been improved along with fuel consumption.

The Cayenne now has a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engine that delivers 340 bhp and 450 Nm of torque and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds (5.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package) with a  top speed of 245 km/h . The Cayenne S is powered by a 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine, delivering 440 bhp and 550 Nm of torque. It goes from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds (with Sport Chrono Package: 4.9 seconds), and reaches a maximum speed of 265 km/h.

The permanent active four-wheel drive has five settings, the default Onroad programme and four off-road settings: Mud, Gravel, Sand or Rocks. Power distribution around the four wheels is via the fully variable Porsche Traction Management system.

New features introduced to the third-generation Cayenne include electric rear-axle steering, air suspension and roll stabilisation, active chassis systems that are part of, and enhance the performance of the integrated Porsche 4D Chassis Control system. Taking its cue from its sports car heritage, the Cayenne comes fitted with mixed tyres with a minimum of 19″ with sizes up to 21″ as an option.

Available as an option for the 20-inch and 21-inch wheels, Cayenne is the new Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB) – cast iron discs with tungsten-carbide coating which increases friction values while wear and brake dust are reduced. The brake calipers are painted a distinctive white.

Other options include the New Sport Chrono Package with PSM Sport which offers driving modes: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and an individually configurable mode.

The Porsche Advanced Cockpit comes with the latest generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system – which made its debut in the Panamera, complete with a new 12.3-inch full-HD touchscreen and can be operated by voice control. There are also analogue controls on the centre console as well as the characteristic central analogue tachometer. There are also two seven-inch full-HD displays which can be controlled through the multi-function steering wheel.

The PCM display can be customised to the preferences of the driver with up to six individual profiles covering comforts like lights, driving programmes and assistance systems.

The all-new Cayenne with zero-rated GST starts from RM745,000 for the Cayenne and RM890,000 for the Cayenne S. Both come with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package which includes complimentary service, parts and labour. The price stated includes all applicable duties but not registration, road tax or insurance. The zero-rated price will only be applicable for models delivered before 31 August 2018. Porsche 360 Financing is available on the all-new Cayenne.
