Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has launched the locally-assembled 2.0-litre Mitsubishi Outlander all-wheel drive. This is the second variant of the Outlander SUV offered in Malaysia, joining the 2.4-litre four-wheel drive which was launched in April 2016. The 2.4-litre Outlander will continue to be fully-imported from Japan. Both are seven-seaters with a third row of seats stowed in the cargo area.
The 2.0-litre engine of the new Outlander produces 143bhp and 196Nm of torque. It is paired with a CVT transmission. The 4WD system has selectable modes: 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock making it available as needed, according to driver preference or to suit conditions and terrain. Claimed consumption for the 2.4-litre outlander is 13.0km/litre while for the 2.0, it is 13.7km/litre.
Safety features in the Outlander include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Active Stability and traction control, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seats and Rest Reminder, to remind drivers to take breaks.
Standard features include automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push-button start. The infotainment system has a seven-inch touchscreen monitor with Air Gesture Control and Apple CarPlay functionality. There are also front and rear parking sensors, a dashcam and security/solar film on all windows.
Ruby Black is a new, exclusive colour offered alongside Red Metallic and Solar White. The Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0L 4WD is offered at RM139,988 (on-the-road, without insurance) until the end of the year as an introductory price. It comes with five years unlimited mileage warranty.
